This module presents an overview of dementia and will assist understanding of dementia within the context of what is known of population statistics, normal ageing and illness. It explores dementia from the perspective of normal age -related brain changes, definition, dementia type, accurate diagnosis and, how dementia is identified and diagnosed. The module also provides some insight into the impact of dementia on the individual with dementia, their family and carers and the community as a whole.
